England manager Roy Hodgson has backed Raheem Sterling to become “mentally stronger”, following the fallout to his controversial move to Manchester City, as per Sky Sports.

The fan burned the tickets in protest against the perceived frosty reception he and other fans were shown as they waited to meet the players in their hotel.
Pellegrini has already defended City’s outlay, insisting Sterling’s speed and versatility will be invaluable.
Sterling has been criticised by a number of former players for his actions, as well as being booed by supporters during Man City’s pre-season tour in Australia. Until players learn that they are never allowed to be human, nervous, or possibly unable to understand the broken version of a language which is not their first, they will continue to alienate football fans who have access to petrol and fire.
Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling (L) looks at the ball as he takes a shot at a goal and scores against Vietnam during a friendly soccer match at My Dinh stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam, July 27, 2015.
“As far as players moves are concerned, I always very much regard that as a private matter”.
“We will play our best in tomorrow’s match, although no tactic could be a surprise for Manchester City“.
“So I understand where he has come from and wish him well because I think he’s a top English player”.
Sterling scored twice in 12 minutes as City registered a crushing 8-1 victory over Vietnam in the pre-season fixture.
‘Raheem is a very good player and that’s why we brought him here. He has never been out of our thoughts at any time, whether he has been playing well or not playing well or in the team or not in the team.

City kick off their Premier League campaign at West Brom in two weeks’ time, and Pellegrini expects an improvement on last season when they finished empty-handed.
