Sadly for Chipotle fans out there, last month the food chain had to close 43 restaurants in OR and Washington State after health authorities linked an E. coli outbreak to six restaurants in the region. At that time, the closing of those specific Chipotle restaurants was completely voluntary.
Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) last issued its quarterly earnings results on Tuesday, October 20th.
Regarding the E. coli outbreak, Ells said the US Food and Drug Administration has still not found an exact source for the bacteria, which can cause severe diarrhea and vomiting.
Chipotle referred to the summer outbreaks as “a small number of isolated and unrelated incidents – in terms of geography and incident”, in an e-mail to The Post from spokesman Chris Arnold. It said that no ingredients that are likely to have been linked with the outbreak remain in its restaurants. Even as the interest increased from 1,285,986 shares on November 13,2015 to 1,744,075 shares on November 30,2015, the days to cover came in at 1.
In all, 52 people have become ill, a lot of them reported eating food from Chipotle within the week before their symptoms began. Cowen and Company downgraded shares of Chipotle Mexican Grill from an “outperform” rating to a “market perform” rating and dropped their price target for the company from $775.00 to $515.00 in a report on Monday.

Norovirus can be transmitted by eating contaminated food, or by touching infected surfaces, then putting your fingers in your mouth.
Chipotle finally put out a statement Thursday offering its “sincerest apologies” to the people who got sick.
Transparency will be Chipotle’s best ally moving forward, especially given Chipotle’s broad following, said Mario Almonte, partner at the New York-based Herman & Almonte Public Relations.
“I’m sorry for the people who got sick”. “They’re having a tough time, and I feel bad about it”. Because the disease is easily spread from person to person, Chipotle is taking precautions to ensure that the location is properly sanitized before it is reopened. The CEO expressed his regret over the illness and has pledged to make Chipotle the “safest place to eat”.

“It’s unfortunate, because Chipotle has been trying to do the right thing in terms of getting antibiotics out of their food, getting [genetically modified organisms] out of their food – and so it just shows how complicated things can get when you’re trying to do the right thing”, she said.
