Irwin’s letter to his parents, Lyn and Bob, will be published at the start of his father’s memoir, The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father and Son Legacy, released in October.
Sep 1, 2016- A newly released letter from Australian naturalist Steve Irwin has revealed his gratitude to his parents for building his character, ethics and happiness. “You’re my best friends!”.
According to reports, Bob only found the letter earlier this year after it fell out of a book, and on the envelope Steve had written, “Please be happy to know that your strength and wisdom has been passed on”.
Steve died after being stabbed in the chest by a stingray barb in September 2006 while filming an ocean documentary.
The poignant letter appears in “The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father and Son Legacy”, a new memoir written by Irwin’s father, also a prominent conservationist, on the tenth anniversary of his son’s death. “Throughout my life, I’ll continue down that journey of just trying to empower others and following my heart and my dreams of carrying on in my dad’s footsteps and having fun each and every day”, she says.
On Bindi’s 18th birthday, she posted a tribute photo of herself with Steve.
Sunday marks 10 years since Irwin’s death.
‘If people think I’m insane, that’s fine.
“Life has changed in a million ways since this photograph was taken”, she wrote.
Robert, now 12, added: ‘It is incredible that we get to carry on where he left off’. Our conservation work with Wildlife Warriors took off around the world.

Shortly after the ninth anniversary of his death a year ago, she wrote, “Father’s Day is today in Australia and everyone is celebrating at Australia Zoo”. That is the unconditional love that is shared between my lovely little family and the loyalty we have to eachother and everyone else who has taken this journey with us.
