Steve McCoy Exits WYAY (News Radio 106.7)/Atlanta Over ‘Recycled’ Trump Interview
News Radio 106.7 morning radio host Steve McCoy declared to listeners on Tuesday the “kind of fluffy” 3-minute interview occurred the day before – and that as a precondition, was told by Trump’s campaign handlers he couldn’t talk about the GOP presidential front-runner’s platform or policies. “CHERYL WHITE, DREW NELSON and RANDY WYLES will continue to provide ATLANTA with a high energy news product that accentuates breaking news as well as in depth coverage on the top stories”.

As this controversy grew, McCoy admitted to Buzzfeed he aired an old chopped-up interview with Trump, claiming it was new.
McCoy not only lied about getting the interview but also about ground-rules the Trump campaign had given him for the interview. McCoy did not appear on the air on Thursday, and Ho reported that a station manager told him that McCoy had been suspended until the station could determine what actually took place.
McCoy did not recently interview Trump, a detail he left out of his broadcast.
A former Star 94 employee who declined to be identified since he is still in the business told me that at Star, repackaging or recycling old celebrity interviews to sound like they were fresh was perfectly acceptable during the time he worked there.
“This interview did not take place”, Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks said.
“There’s Donald Trump from yesterday our conversation with him”, he said at the end. McGahn asserted that the radio host admitted he fabricated the interview and apologized to the campaign.

“For obvious reasons Steve McCoy no longer works at the station”, said Greg Tantum, the station’s program director.
