“With the reach of our global networks and the passion of our storytelling, we will both engage the community and energize people to action by picturing a better environment”, Andy Kaplan, president of worldwide networks for Sony Pictures Television, said.

Variety adds: “On Mosko’s watch, Sony Pictures TV rebuilt its domestic scripted operation from scratch – after the previous Sony Pictures regime shut down its money-losing primetime unit – and expanded overseas with Sony- and AXN-branded channels in more than 180 countries”.

For the past several years, the importance of Sony Entertainment’s TV operation has been on the rise, contributing well over 50% and possibly over 60% of Sony Entertainment’s operating income, leading to Lynton’s announcement in 2013 that the company will make “a significant shift in emphasis from motion pictures to higher-margin television”.

“Under Steve’s leadership, Sony Pictures Television has become the industry’s largest independent television studio”, said Lynton.

Wald most recently served as executive VP of worldwide distribution across EMEA for SPT leading the studio’s distribution efforts across the region.

Elsewhere, SPT’s Latin American sales boss, Alexander Marin, has been given additional responsibility for Canada.

All three will report to Keith LeGoy, president of global distribution.

He most recently oversaw SPT’s distribution efforts in all of Asia, plus Australia, New Zealand and India.

“All of these executives are fantastic and talented leaders who have established excellent relationships across multiple territories”. They are astute at responding to the specific needs of clients, while understanding the quickly evolving content marketplace around the world.

“These appointments not only allow them to bring their learning and expertise to different markets, but also underscore our commitment to developing and providing opportunities for our executives who excel”.
