Steve Nash to Become Suns’ Ring of Honor Member
The Phoenix Suns will induct Steve Nash into their Ring of Honor on October 30, according to the team’s website. Nash will be honored at halftime of the team’s second game of the season, against the Trail Blazers. From then on, Phoenix enjoyed its best basketball since the days of Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson and Dan Majerle.

It’s great that the Suns are so quick to make amends with Nash, who left as a free agent in a sign and trade with the Lakers in 2012, as part of the ill-fated super-team construction along with Dwight Howard. The Suns had fallen off and with Amar’e Stoudemire’s departure, headed toward a rebuilding era. He led the Suns to three Western Conference Finals appearances during that span.
That’s a pretty big ring of honor, and Nash comfortably warrants inclusion.
Terry, 37, played in 77 games for the Rockets last season, averaging 7.0 points, 1.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game.
An eight-time All-Star, Nash finished his career as the Suns’ all-time leader in assists, 3-point field goals made and free-throw percentage.
Fair or not, we’ll always measure athletes’ legacies by their number of championships (or lackthereof), but Nash is also one of those rare players whose career accomplishments and lasting impact in many ways transcend that criteria.

The Suns could have waited on this with Nash retiring so recently, but kudos to them for making this no-brainer decision and carrying it out as soon as possible.
