Steve Rogers Isn’t Captain America After Civil War

Given Cap’s emotional ties to Bucky and Falcon, it seems likely that he would have to fight one or both of them in that scenario.

While it’s unclear precisely when Bucky might become Captain America, some fans think it’ll happen after the third Avengers film, subtitled Infinity War.

“Civil War” director Joe Russo, who helmed “The Winter Soldier” and the third installment with brother Anthony Russo, revealed in an interview with Huffington Post that the 98-year-old supersoldier might be hanging up his shield for good. The follow-up, entitled “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2” featuring Kurt Russell and Nathan Fillion, is set to take off on May 5, 2017.

Captain America alter ego Steve Rogers may be wearing a different costume in the upcoming third Avengers film. The actor, whose contract had expired before the Captain America sequel, was reportedly paid $40 million upfront and a significant back end fee.

Captain America: Civil War is available on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 13th. Stay tuned for more details and footage from the home video release, and for more on Avengers: Infinity War as we get closer to production starting. “The notion of the Madbomb would have been Cap having to fight civilians and how he would he handle that”, Joe added.

“I think [Steve Rogers] dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity”. Learn more about the characters on each side-from Captain America and Iron Man to the latest recruits. Ultimately, that made Civil War a stronger story, but perhaps the Madbomb will resurface in the MCU for a future Cap film. That is going to be the big question going into the Marvel Cinematic Universe post-Captain America: Civil War as one of the most prominent members of the Avengers will no longer be recognized by the patriotic moniker.

As for what exactly those “beginnings” might be, the Russo brothers haven’t elaborated, but Anthony did make a point of assuring fans that they are striving to make every character choice “feel organic to the storytelling”.

If you’ve seen the film and are still reading, then you know that the Avengers find themselves fractured at the end of the movie as those who supported Captain America’s idea that they shouldn’t sign the Sokovia Accords were in government custody.
