Steve Smith says he’ll quit if Ravens trade him

Instead of contending for another Super Bowl, the Ravens are 1-5 and sitting in last place in the AFC North. This will undoubtedly lead to a few offseason changes, no matter what happens over the remainder of the season. The next best thing they can do for themselves and Smith is sending him to a winning team.

Baltimore’s most explosive receiving threat couldn’t help but agree with him.

Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith said of Steve Smith: “He truly tries to help all the players”.

But Harbaugh made it clear the Ravens won’t be making that move.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr., will reportedly not be traded before the November 3 deadline, according to National Football League reporter Chris Wesseling. They have been hit with a lot of injuries in their passing game and could use a veteran target with the fire to always want to win.

“I’m still on schedule to go and do things that my family and I have scheduled and said we’re going to do”. After all, Smith is 36 and only has one year left on a three-year deal that he signed before the 2014 season. For right now, it looks like Smith will finish his career in Baltimore, and barring a huge turnaround, it looks like the postseason won’t include one of the greatest receivers in the game.

“[Smith] trusts them”, the source said. “I don’t think he’d be happy if they did suddenly trade him out of the blue, but he believes they have no plans of that anyway”.

The comments came on the heels of a Yahoo Sports report Friday morning that Smith has been informed by Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome that he is unlikely to be traded.

Smith has proved to be one of the more dynamic playmakers at his position since being selected in the third round by the Carolina Panthers in the 2001 draft.

Could Smith’s strong play convince him to consider playing again in 2016? That’s not known, but he can continue to rise up the all-time receiving rankings with continued production. Smith has a key factor in the game with four catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
