Defence lawyer Jerry Buting, controversial prosecutor Ken Kratz, the documentary makers themselves, and members of the Avery and Dassey families all appear on Steven Avery: Innocent or Guilty?
The drama continues when Avery’s 16-year-old nephew Brendan Dassey comes forward and confesses to accompanying Avery in murdering Halbach. “We are confident Mr. Avery’s conviction will be vacated when we present the new evidence and results of our work to the appropriate court”. Zellner will discuss the forensic advances that could help Avery, NBC News reported. Everyone has their opinions and theories on the show, Steven Avery, law enforcement in Manitowoc County, defense lawyers etc. “They originally had planned on placing the body in the pond, [but then] believing there wasn’t enough water in the pond, Steven Avery carried out the plan to burn her”.
She added: “As we know from making this series, it’s a huge commitment that we take very seriously and it’s just apparent to us that we would need time to think about what we would next”. “There are 36 million reasons why they should be doing this to him”, Davey quoted Avery’s brother as saying in a 2005 New York Times article.
Kratz said he physical evidence and eyewitness testimony point to Avery. She visited Manitowoc County then to report on Avery’s case and recently revisited it for the Times to see the impact that the documentary and the world’s renewed interest has had on the town. The series has attracted a worldwide following because of questions it raises about how the investigation was conducted, and has left many people asking whether Avery and Dassey may have been framed.
However, the actual 1982 charge was for pouring gasoline on a cat and throwing it into a fire, which you may notice is much more disgusting than something all people do when they’re young. Previously, Avery had been exonerated for the assault of a female jogger after already serving 18 years of his sentence.
“All of us watching the Netflix series kind of look at him as our own little modern day super hero”, Nicole Kaplan said after listening to Strang speak with state lawmakers about the criminal justice system.
Additionally, there was the matter of Halbach’s charred cell phone and camera being found in Avery’s burn barrel, evidence of which the series omitted.

Jurors decided Avery shackled Halbach to a bed after she came to his family’s property to photograph a van for sale, and stabbed and shot her, burning her remains. Two years later, Avery was charged with killing Halbach.
