In the last week Arena rejected the idea of any of his star players going out on loan during the MLS close season but he went further when asked about suggestions the former England worldwide could return to his old club.
“I spoke with Stevie; one phone call and a few messages and I told him “When you are here of course you can come whenever you want, you can train with us if you think it is good for you”. It’s a long season, and I only came here for the last four months.
In his first season in the United States, Gerrard experienced another title disappointment as Galaxy, who won the MLS crown last season, were knocked out of the playoffs by Seattle Sounders last month.
Gerrard will fly back to Liverpool this week to spend the MLS off-season at home in addition to his duties as a pundit for BT Sport’s Champions League coverage and prepare for the 2016 pre-season which will begin in January.
“At home, we’ve got no problems because we’re very strong and we play well”.
“Stevie has a contract with LA Galaxy, he loves this club and he is a legend and when his contract has ended we can talk about different stuff”, said the German. We’ll always win more than we lose.
“I know [Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena] quite well now … and I’m sure that’s where he’ll be analysing over the winter…to stop this team from conceding goals, we know that”, he said. “[We have] to stop this team from conceding goals, we know that”, he said.
“I ” ve been in this game long enough to know that if you ” re going to be successful that you can ” t keep conceding goals”. It’s too hard to win football matches if you concede two or three every game. “We know that’s where he’ll be analyzing over the winter”.

“We ” ll improve the squad, and we ” ll hopefully have a [team] that ” s ready to compete again next year”.
