Steven Yeun Weighs In on Daryl’s Fault in The Walking Dead

Rick Grimes is unable to stop this. “He’s going to stay on top of Rick for a while to make sure it sticks”.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays the nefarious Negan, admitted as much to Interview magazine.

That sentiment has been echoed by more than a few fans and critics; Critic Matt Zoller Seitz on Vulture likened The Walking Dead to a “fourth-rate zombie movie stretched over 83-hours” (via Polygon). The episode did an extremely poor job of explaining why Negan kept Rick (Andrew Lincoln) alive. And oh, dear Daryl Dixon, we hope and pray this image doesn’t pop up anywhere else this season. We see reactions to this choice, we see Maggie taking Lucille to the head, showing defiance between hits. We may not get a chance to see the fallout from Negan’s bash-fest, but that’s ok.

Regardless, it’s still insane to see how differently the episode could’ve gone down. “Sincerely, sincerely to every single fan who tuned in and watched the show, thank you so much”.

Meanwhile, a big question looming over this season centers on what Negan plans on doing with Daryl.

Ever since the end of the last episode of the season six in April of this year, fans of The Walking Dead have been occupied with the mysterious person which was killed in the last scene.

“I feel fine!” Yeun says in the comedic video. “They said someone was filling in for me, and it’s you?”

Some people think Glenn would still be alive if Daryl didn’t lash out. Even if it’s not real or even if it’s not accurate or fair, I think he would shoulder that type of burden. We felt that the one death would do the trick, but, the second death – Glenn’s death – really propels us into a very different direction. Negan taunts him as blood pours from his mouth.

Norman revealed that Daryl will get “very, very, very dark” under Negan’s capture.
