‘Still Bernie’ backers want to take fight to Democratic convention

“Every day we learn more about him, and every day it becomes clearer that he is just a small, insecure moneygrubber who doesn’t care about anyone or anything that doesn’t have the Trump name splashed all over it”, Warren declared while speaking before hundreds of Democrats in New Hampshire. Clinton has secured enough delegates to be the presumptive nominee. While there was some behind-the-scenes grumbling, the open conflict of some county and district conventions over delegate counts was mostly absent from the state convention.

Meanwhile, about 70 per cent of Americans, including a majority of Democrats and Republicans, said they wanted to see at least moderate regulations on guns.

“Now Trump University failed, and that’s no surprise”, Warren said in New Hampshire.

He said he was exhausted of being told time and again he had to vote for “the lesser of two evils”.

“Donald Trump has people hiding under rocks hoping he doesn’t know where they are, ‘ said New York Rep. Steve Israel, former chairman of the House Democrats” campaign arm.

Polls show that the race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump could transform the traditional electoral map, with Trump’s growing weaknesses among important voter blocs opening up battlegrounds even in traditionally red states like Arizona and Utah.

Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, is running campaign ads on television starting today in eight states, including Iowa. “And I think if we continue to do that, we will help build the party long-term”.

Brown said Clinton will not be the Democratic nominee until delegates formally vote for her at the national convention in Philadelphia. And I personally intend to begin my role in that process in a very short period of time, ” Sanders said.

She doubts anyone who is backing Sanders because of his position on a living wage, social justice and the environment will either sit out the election or vote for Trump, whom she described as “somebody who claims he doesn’t believe in climate change as a theory and thinks the current minimum wage is too high”.

Kendal Unruh, a Colorado delegate, organized a call with dozens of other delegates Thursday night to discuss ways to block Trump at the convention. “Trump is a proven businessman – a proven failure”, Warren said. They, after all, went through the same emotional process in 2008 when Clinton lost the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama.

“Maybe we can do something together to try to make this a better world, or a better country at least”, Brennan said.

“There is no recent reliable public polling in Arizona, but Democratic and Republican strategists said private research shows the presidential race as a toss-up”. In addition, 17 superdelegates, most of whom have already pledged their support to Clinton, will represent the state at the convention.

Manley said it’s unlikely the platform committee, which will be staffed largely by Clinton delegates, would be less inclined to take Sanders seriously “if they don’t get an indication that he’s going to be a team player in the end”.
