Sting Performs At Bataclan One Year After Paris Attacks

Among the 1,500 concert-goers, about 250 were survivors and victims’ families.

One of the attack locations was the Bataclan concert hall, where 90 people died while attending a concert by the USA band Eagles of Death Metal.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo joined the president at six other sites where crowds ate, drank or revelled in music.

A minute of silence followed the reading of the names – as families of the victims, first aid workers and police in attendance stayed silent long after the minute was up.

A representative for the band reportedly branded the venue’s version of events as “false”.

Before the concert Frutos said that he was sick of listening to Hughes’ conspiracy theories.

Hughes told reporters Sunday that he went to the Bataclan because “I just wanted to see the place open”.

They tried to enter the venue and they are persona non grata.

But Hughes’ provocative remarks were strongly rejected by the Bataclan which said the club’s security – far from costing lives – had likely saved hundreds.

“Terrorism will still strike us”.

He said the band’s attitude shows “no respect for the victims”.

The BBC’s Nick Garnett said Sting transformed the theater back into a concert venue.

A year after the attacks, France’s worst terror assault, investigation showed that the series of shootings and bombings were organised from Syria, prepared in Belgium and executed in Paris with internal complicity.

Marc Pollack, of The MGMT Company, accused Mr Frutos of “tainting a wonderful opportunity that could’ve been used to spread peace and love”.
