Stoke beats Everton 4-3 in Premier League thriller
A flowing, end-to-end game reflected the array of attacking quality on display from both sides and Stoke regained the lead on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a glorious goal from Shaqiri.

Gerard Deulofeu tapped in to put host Everton ahead but Joselu scored his first Premier League goal for Stoke with a volley to haul his side back on level terms.
The draw leaves United five points behind the Champions League positions but Van Gaal, who said he could resign as manager after defeat at Stoke two days ago, was encouraged by his team’s display.
However, Stoke’s lead did not last too long. They dominated the opening ten minutes, with Marko Arnautovic being unlucky not to get a clearer opportunity after being played in by Bojan.
Undaunted by that mishap, Bojan continued to tug at the strings from various locations as Stoke ‘s composure visibly returned by the latter stages of the opening period.
And just six minutes later the comeback was complete.
For the visitors were guilty of ball watching and looking rather static as a somewhat orchestrated four-man Everton move culminated in James McCarthy sliding through for an unmarked Lukaku to slip home his 10 goal in his last 10 appearances.
Shaqiri’s opener rounded off a fine team move, while his second was a sublime solo effort sent floating from his boot over the stranded Tim Howard from the edge of the box as he met a Bojan Krkic delivery first time.
Stoke were certainly the more deserving of the game’s first goal when it arrived in the 16 minute thanks to some swift, smart play from their three Amigos.
Stoke City have lost just one of their last six Premier League away games (W3 D2 L1).
“It takes time to understand what it is required at Premier League level”.
There appeared little prospect of the goals ceasing there – and so it proved, with Stoke scoring their third with 10 minutes remaining. Everton come into this game off the back of a steal away to Newcastle, the Toffees scored a late late victor at Newcastle on Saturday night in a game that they dominated but couldnt score only for Tom Cleverly to head in the victor two minutes into injury time.
And Mark Hughes’ side then snatched the win through Arnautovic’s penalty, after being felled by John Stones.
The result sees Stoke move temporarily into eighth place, while Everton stay tenth.
This will be the start of a important three game stretch for Everton. Everton will welcome Tottenham to Goodison on Sunday, then host Manchester City in their own League Cup semi-final on the following Wednesday.
