Stoke City close in on Shaqiri capture

Stoke pulled out of a deal to sign Shaqiri earlier in the summer when he missed a deadline imposed to the club to reply to their offer.

At that point, Shaqiri was a clear choice to help catalyze the transition from the “Robbery era”, his four-year contract a ideal timeline for him to slip seamlessly into the shoes of Bayern’s seasoned superstars.

But Adam remains excited about the potential of Mark Hughes’ Stoke squad, with the latter having confirmed Monday that talks have resumed to sign Switzerland worldwide Shaqiri from Inter.

Xherdan Shaqiri, the Inter Milan winger, has passed a medical and agreed personal terms with Stoke City.

“We are hopeful, but we have had a pre-season of chasing really quality targets”, Hughes said on Sunday. It was important we were able to establish that enthusiasm to sense from the player and his people.

Sat in the executive lounge during that game was a player we had, publicly, told to forget about a move to Stoke just a month ago.

Hughes added in his post-match press conference: “We’re hopeful. Sometimes you can get these things done very quickly and other times it takes a little bit longer”.

“If we can pick it up from the start and finish well, it should be a good season”.

The rumors on Shaqiri’s move to Stoke City could be true after the midfielder is spotted at The Britannia Stadium.
