A auto stolen from a dealership in Santa Monica, was involved in a police pursuit this afternoon. The auto sped off, heading through a red light at Washington and La Cienega boulevards and smashing into a BMW sedan, police said.
The Culver City Police Department estimates the intersection will be reopened by 6pm. The pursuit ended on Washington and La Cienega when the stolen vehicle collided with a Volvo driven by a father and an eight-year-old son.
The driver of the stolen vehicle, a female juvenile, and three other occupants fled the scene of the accident on foot.
One passenger was apprehended inside the bathroom of the gas station, two were caught in nearby a creek trying to escape and a final suspect was found injured inside the vehicle, police said. The man died and his son was taken to the hospital with injuries that police say are not life-threatening.
The crash was reported at about 11 a.m. on Washington Boulevard at La Cienega Boulevard, according to police. Some of the four sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.
