Stoops addressing Oklahoma reactions after win on Rocky Top

Tennessee did play the Sooners closer than last year’s 34-10 defeat, but this is a team that had Oklahoma exactly where they wanted them. It was unclear what he said.

Striker’s trash talking did not go unnoticed by Tennessee coach Butch Jones, who tried to impart some wisdom to Striker on his way off the field. Stoops said both face internal punishment, but hasn’t said if it will cause either to miss playing time against Tulsa.

“Their actions in the heat of the moment and all emotional are absolutely inappropriate”, Stoops said. “We’ll handle it internally”.

The Oklahoman’s Jason Kersey reports that Jones told Striker to “have some damn class” following his antics.

Jones said he wants to see improvement “everywhere” in Saturday’s game, but he most importantly wants a clean game with minimal mistakes, penalties and mental errors. But I wasn’t trying to be classless. “To me, I would respect that if an opposing coach said that to our players”. After Saturday night’s comeback victory against the Vols, Stoops’ team has now won three straight games against SEC opponents.

Oklahoma clearly scored the latest blow with the Tennessee win, and Finebaum did the gentlemanly thing during his show Monday. Finebaum often has described Oklahoma as irrelevant. I would agree you can’t just set up a gameplan to say, “Throw it to that guy”, but this is a great opportunity to build confidence in the pass game beyond just Dobbs, who we already know can torch bad defenses. “[Finebaum] doesn’t deserve that attention from me”. Bottom line is ask Tennessee and their 105,000 people if we’re relevant or not. He had 15 tackles for loss and a team-high 11 sacks previous year. That’s what he does. “And that’s OK, everybody has to earn their money one way or another, so”.

He scored four touchdowns against Lamar on Saturday. Phillips had his ankle noticeably taped during practice within two weeks of the season opener. And against SMU, he hauled in catches of 57 and 42 yards and had 178 total.
