Stores ready for Small Business Saturday

However, Small Business Saturday gives those locally owned stores the chance to showcase all they have to offer. Business owners were happy with the turnout at the Waverly Market.

Business owners said shopping locally is unique because of attention to detail and familiarity. But, Bella Rose Boutique in Gulfport opened on Thanksgiving night.

“I do like smaller stores, you get novel things you can’t get other places”, said another.

It’s that special shopping day that site right between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. “They become your family and you know everything about them”, she said. “You can go to the mall and buy 20 of the same things for Christmas, but I think people are wanting unique stuff”, said Deleeuw.

“I get tons of people through the door that say we especially come to Valley Junction on Small Business Saturday because we want to keep everybody here”.

Jaclyn Seymour says, “Shop Small Saturday wasn’t just for the local stores here in Rapid City, but for shoppers who say they were able to find items that they weren’t able to find in larger stores”.

“You can make longtime time friends when you shop local and keep coming back and back and back”, Kolb said.

Although this day is dedicated to fulfilling that desire, Shaw hopes that the community will continue to support small businesses every day. She believes supporting local business helps the community grow stronger.

Some local businesses in downtown Lima were also gearing up this morning for the busy shopping day ahead.

“Stop at the local store first before going to a big box”.

“I love seeing these shops here”, said Brozek.

Five years ago, American Express launched Small Business Saturday to encourage people to shop small stores. “I think that you will find that you get better service here, at least that’s our goal”.
