Storm Barbara to affect Christmas travel in London, parts of UK
With yesterday’s snow expected to end early this morning, temperatures in the Pocatello area are forecast to rise into the 20s and 30s starting on Thursday.

Weather officials warn of widespread travel difficulties and ice and snow packed roads are possible.
Dave Throup, Environment Agency spokesman for the Midlands, added: “The second named storm of the year is Barbara and she’ll be arriving just before Christmas”. A total of 5-10 inches of snow is expected, with winds gusting up to 35 miles per hour.
“Check the traffic reports before you leave and try to travel when it’s quieter or, if you have no choice, consider an alternative route to beat the jams”.
A Met Office spokesman said: “There are some signals that it could turn wet and windy through the Christmas period”.
A few thunderstorms will be possible Christmas afternoon and evening, according to the weather service.
“Most people won’t see any rain and there will be no real flooding so the only concern for the region from Storm Barbara is the high winds”, said Mr Dury. The best chance for snow is often when overnight lows drop below freezing, but anything that sticks to the ground typically melts after sunrise.
FRIDAY: Sunny, with a high near 42. Some of the hills south of Syracuse could see a fresh coating of snow before the precipitation changes over. The high on Christmas Day is expected to be a brisk 31 degrees and the low should be about 15.
Thursday night is forecast to be mostly dry for a time but outbreaks of rain or drizzle is set to affect western and southern coastal counties.
Although these showers could be wintry, especially over northern hills, with some hail, sleet or snow, I don’t think it will feel particularly like a White Christmas.

On Christmas Day, the storm should move out by the early afternoon hours. The anticipated large and powerful scale of this storm means some areas that appear to be missing the brunt of the storm Sunday may still get hit Sunday night or Monday.
