‘Straight Outta Compton’ director in the running for ‘Fast & Furious 8’
Straight Outta Compton’s F Gary Gray has revealed that he is moving full speed ahead to take the helm of Fast & Furious 8. “Excited to bring u the next chapter of the #FastFamily saga”, the director wrote on Twitter. Vin Diesel. Kinda. Earlier in the week, Diesel sparked rumors regarding Gray’s involvement in the project when he shared an image of the director to his Facebook page. Behind them was a framed photo collage filled with stills from previous Fast & Furious movies. But on the other hand, it’s not really in Vin Diesel’s style to mislead his fans with red herrings, and the director has been mostly straightforward with regards to his work throughout the years. Gary Gray, most recently known for his work on “Straight Outta Compton”, could be joining the production crew in this role. Know that he was also behind the 2003 remake The Italian Job (which wasn’t too far from the current Fast & Furious blueprint), Friday, The Negotiator, Law Abiding Citizen and so on. Universal along with Diesel and Moritz, who are producing the film, have been struggling to find a new director for the upcoming movie after James Wan chose to leave the franchise.

However, Vin Diesel and Universal apparently had a different plan in mind. “While it initially may seem like an out-of-left-field choice, Gray helming “Fast & Furious 8″ actually makes a great deal of sense”, it said.
