Though season two has only been officially announced by Netflix today (August 31), the streaming service’s CEO Reed Hastings recently said it “would be dumb not to” recommission the super-buzzy series. Writers/creators Matt and Ross Duffer a.k.a.

21 Laps will be producing alongside executive producers Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and the Duffer brothers. Without offering too much concrete information, the trailer teased what seemed to be plot points: “Madmax”, “The Boy Who Came Back to Life”, “The Pumpkin Patch” and more.

What do they mean?

We’ve already written our love letter to Season One, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what happened next. “We don’t know about Eleven”, says Ross Duffer. It has been relayed that the second season is finally underway. Things are bound to get bigger. And are we returning to the Upside Down? Season 1 was just a sneak peek of that dimension, the Brothers say, and a lot of questions about its “inhabitants” is still a mystery to be unraveled. What else could be out there? “So it’s open-ended in a way that if people wanted it and if Netflix wanted it, we could explore it and continue this storyline”.

Season 2 will most likely create more tension and that should be solved by the characters at the end.

Interesting that he’s bringing up the possibility of more monsters in the Upside Down as the brothers had previously stated that only one monster existed. So, expect to see the return of Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Joyce (Winona Ryder), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), etc.

These titles leave us wondering what unusual occurrences will happen next, although we can probably expect to see how Will is coping now that he has returned from the Upside Down. No casting has been confirmed for upcoming season.

Catapulting the supernatural action into the year 1984, Stranger Things season 2 will continue to draw inspiration from the genre greats and, as the Duffer Brothers revealed to Entertainment Weekly, James Cameron’s filmography. And yes, that’s one more episode than the first season.

The series goes pretty heavy on the 1980s nostalgia, with nods to classic horror and sci-fi movies of the era, including “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “E.T. the Extraterrestrial”.
