Now, there’s no word on CivilizationEDU coming out in the United Kingdom, but it will be available to download in 2017.
CivilizationEDU will debut in schools in the fall of 2017.
Sid Meier, the creator of the Civilization franchise and creative development director of Firaxis Games, made the announcement at the Games for Change festival in NY.
Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. said Thursday it will donate “Civilization V”, the most recent installment in the 25-year-old series, to a nonprofit that modifies games for classrooms in the US and Canada.
Developed by Firaxis Games, Sid Meier’s Civilization has sold-in more than 34 million units worldwide, and is recognised as one of the greatest strategy franchises of all-time. “We’ve always focused on entertainment first, but we believe that our players – young and old – enjoy learning, even if they don’t always enjoy education”.
GlassLab aim to judge problem-solving skills as a possible replacement for tests, as well as teach students about the mess of interlocking factors that create a global economy, including technological and social factors.
GlassLab, the developer that will be getting the games to schools, has worked with several games to serve as educational tools, such as Oregon Trail and Minecraft.
Given recent political events it’s safe to say that, judging by my Twitter timeline, at lot of people think they could lead this country better.
This is but the latest move from Firaxis, who is now making Civilization VI.

“For the past 25 years, we’ve found that one of the fun secrets of Civilization is learning while you play”, Sid Meier, founder and director of creative development at Firaxis Games, said.
