During a livestream of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015, Tekken 7 Director Katsuhiro Harada announced a major update for the videogame titled Fated Retribution.

Fated Retribution is an update that will release for arcades, featuring new characters, costumes, stages, and items as part of the newest version for the game.

What made the trailer extra big however, concerns the actual storyline of Tekken 7. Akuma featured as a playable character.

Thanks to Youtuber tzBIGWORM, we already have a version of the trailer shown at the tournament, and it confirms that Street Fighter’s very own Akuma will be entering the fray.

We now don’t know the launch date for Fated Retribution. At the time, it was assumed that it was a hint towards Tekken x Street Fighter, a cross-over game which the Tekken community has been anticipating for a long time. Given that Tekken and Street Fighter have worked together in the past, it is safe to say that we may see an important character of the Tekken series to make an appearance in the Street Fighter series in the future.

Akuma’s gameplay and moveset is very similar to those of his in Street Fighter. Street Fighter is a fighting game based more on special moves and projectiles, while Tekken focuses largely on combos.
