Street Fighter V Story Update Launches July 1, Balrog Gameplay Revealed

The trailer and the update release date were both announced during tonight’s CEO 2016 finals, where Street Fighter 5 and the Capcom Pro Tour made a stop. Evo showrunner Joey Cuellar confirmed as much on Twitter shortly after the announcement. The latest update will offer a six-hour story mode, Ibuki as a playable character, as well as new costumes and stages. For example, new characters can be unlocked by paying 100,000 Fight Money credits, or purchasing the content on the PlayStation Store and Steam for $5.99. Street Fighter’s premiere boxer is lovingly highlighted in the trailer above, which ends with a nod to Juri and Urien, the final two announced Street Fighter 5 DLC characters. We’ll see more of him on Friday too, as part of the story mode, and Evo will likely bring more information on when he’ll hit the multiplayer roster. We reported at the end of May that Ibuki, who was set to be released in that month, had been delayed until June. The long-awaited patch will add in the missing story mode as well as add Balrog and Ibuki as playable characters.
