‘Stressed’ Adele left Brits after party within ‘seconds’ of arriving

ADELE took home four awards at the Brit Awards in London on Wednesday (24.02.16) and broke down in tears while accepting the Global Success Award. She rounded out the haul with the Global Success Award.

She finished: ‘Tim Peake I love you, I hope you’re OK and not too hungry!’

Major Tim Peake made a surprise appearance at the Brit Awards from space via video to present the award for global success to Adele. She was quite emotional in receiving each award, saying at one point that being warmly received after a long hiatus means so much to her.

One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” helped the band win its second consecutive “British Artist Video of the Year”.

The 27-year old closed the show by performing When We Were Young.

Adele joins several other female celebrities who have rallied round the embattled “TiK ToK” singer, who is now embroiled in a legal battle with music producer Dr Luke.

Adele beat off competition from Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, James Bay and Jamie xx to scoop the award.

The Hello singer picked up an impressive four awards at the glittering ceremony held at London’s O2 Arena. “Naturally, we wish to honour his extraordinary life and work at the forthcoming Brit Awards and pay a fitting tribute to one of our greatest icons”.

The “International Female Solo Artist” was awarded to Icelandic songwriter Bjork.

Perth’s own Tame Impala scored International Group, scoring their first ever BRIT award off the back of their globally acclaimed third album Currents.

Oldman gave a heart-warming speech before introducing singer Lorde who performed a tribute, and Oldman said Bowie had thought was “the future of music”.

The singer then won perhaps the biggest prize of the night – best British album – beating Coldplay, Florence + The Machine, James Bay and Jamie XX.

Thirdly, if she hasn’t captured everyone’s interest for going back on stage several times to grab the awards, she also swore on stage while delivering her acceptance speech. Black British singer Laura Mvula said she would not attend the event, citing the lack of diver- sity. Catfish and the Bottlemen won British Breakthrough Act.

The world-conquering diva also took trophies for British Female Solo Artist of the Year; British Single of the year, for lovelorn ballad Hello; and Album of the Year for 15 million copy-selling 25.

A BRIT award is the British version of the American Grammys.
