Strictly 2015: The vital stats you need to know before the final

The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness is the victor of Strictly Come Dancing 2015, despite placing third on the grand final leaderboard.

The pre-show long odds-on favourite, singer Jay McGuiness, with professional dancer Aliona Vilani, scored 36 in the first dance and 35 in the second, making a total of 71.

“I have been surprised because Strictly is the ultimate benign happy friendly family show – and of course it’s done very well in the ratings”, she said.

The night had seen Jay come bottom of the leaderboard, with an accumulated score of 110.

First to exit the final was Proms presenter Katie Derham, who was told by the judges the she “didn’t quite keep it together” in her Quickstep and was “rigid and stiff” in her show dance.

And sure enough, nabbed they emerged champions following a trio of routines that included their paso doble and quickstep from earlier in the series as well as their showdance to The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face.

Pro dancer, Aliona quickly stepped into say: “I’ll take all the blame”.

But he lost out to Wanted star Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani at the final hurdle.

“It’s been one of the most special things I’ve ever done, with the most special person”, Jay shared after getting over his own shock.

And while Georgia and Kellie had danced for their lives, in the end the public backed boy band star Jay who won the trophy and everyone hearts. “What an fantastic day for these guys”, Georgia May Foote said.

Whilst her partner Anton told her simply: “You are joyous”.
