According to the weather service, the first wave will develop “along and south of a warm front across southeast Georgia and extreme southern SC”.
A tornado emergency had been issued for Webster and Sumter counties in Georgia.
National Weather Service meteorologist John De Block says he expects storms to last into the evening in southern and eastern Alabama.
A possible tornado in Georgia caused damage to structures in Weston and Benevolence on Wednesday.
“Tornadoes, while not impossible, are unlikely overnight”, Gaskin said. Large hail has also occurred in these storms.
The severe weather comes days after a powerful storm system in the southeastern USA killed four people, including a woman who was swept away by flood waters while she called 911. One person in McMinnville, Tenn., was injured when strong winds destroyed a mobile home.
The window most favorable for severe weather, subject to change, is between about 8 a.m. and midday, meaning hazardous storms could affect the morning commute.
With severe storms bearing down on Augusta National, the club has been shut down for the second time this week.
“The biggest threat will be damaging winds and large hail, but isolated tornadoes will be possible”.
A third round will develop this evening through 9 p.m.
Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings had already been issued Wednesday morning as of 10 a.m.
Tornado Watch canceled for Morgan, Madison and Lincoln County.

The worst of the weather was expected to move out of Alabama later tonight, with calmer weather expected for the rest of the week.
The potential for tornadoes could spawn up during this time, too.
The first round of severe storms is winding down, but another round is possible by early Thursday. “This was classified as an EF0 tornado, which was 80 miles per hour, went for about 200 yards; very small tornado, but that word tornado scares everybody to death”, said Susanne Peeples, Hampton County EMA. However, the Lee County EMA said the event is “far from over”.
