Student diversity officer ‘posted racist comment on Twitter’ saying ‘kill all
A Met spokesperson said: “A woman interviewed under caution regarding a complaint of racially motivated malicious communication made on a social media network has been summonsed to court”. “The charges demonstrate once again the problems with this piece of legislation, and others that criminalise free speech, and the way in which these laws are interpreted by the CPS”, Jodie Ginsberg, CEO of Index on Censorship said.

“An employee of Goldsmiths University of London’s independent students’ union was arrested in London Tuesday and charged with sending a menacing or offensive messages via a public network for her “#killallwhitemen” tweets.
An student petition calling for her to be removed from her position garnered only 165 signatures, and she was allowed by the student union to keep her job, because it failed to meet the 3% threshold to trigger a referendum that could have dislodged her.
Bahar Mustafa, a diversity officer at Goldsmiths, University of London, first attracted worldwide attention last spring when she barred white men from an event on “diversifying” the curriculum, and defended herself by claiming that minority women like herself can not be racist or sexist.
Ms Mustafa triggered a backlash over a series of comments she posted on social media in May.
She faces two charges in relation to the tweets.
“Therefore, women of colour and minority genders can not be racist or sexist, since we do not stand to benefit from such a system”.
