A video of students singing a racist song on a Maryland school bus has gone viral, and it’s causing outrage.

Long’s daughter, a student at Robert Frost Middle School in Rockville, was on the bus Tuesday when the incident occurred and she recorded the students.
The father of the eighth grade student who recorded the video said she first asked students on the bus to stop using the word.
His daughter was so upset by the incident he made a decision to keep her home from school today.
Long also mentions on his Facebook page that she’s reached out to the school and said, “they were nervous and wanted to handle it”.
Jones released a statement saying the students were repeating words from an online video protesting racial profiling. Local news station Fox 5 DC reports that Montgomery County Public Schools says it is investigating the video. Jones will work with the district’s equity unit to turn the incident into a learning experience for students and the community, officials said.
“The objective of my call is to inform you of an incident that occurred on one of the school buses yesterday, Tuesday, September 20, 2016”. He wrote that the bus driver stopped the bus and addressed the students involved, which included some black, Latino and Asian students. However, they did not take action against the students.
School spokesman Derek Turner told WUSA9’s Bruce Leshan that the school is investigating the incident and that the principal will send out a note to the school community soon.

“In the coming days, students, parents, staff and the community will have an opportunity to discuss issues regarding race and how we can educate each other about cultures and concerns”, Jones wrote. Thank you for your continued support.
