Stunning final play gives Central Michigan win over Okla
In Week 2, the Big 12’s No. 22 Oklahoma State Cowboys had players falling to the ground via fog machine versus the Central Michigan Chippewas.

“The crew made a misapplication of the rule and should not have extended the contest with one final play”.
A misinterpreted rule gave the Chippewas one untimed play, which resulted in a 51-yard Hail Mary, which was quickly lateraled back, then run in for the winning touchdown.
Chippewas quarterback Cooper Rush connected with receiver Jesse Kroll, who was covered heavily by Cowboys defenders and almost tackled.
“That’s what I really wanted to see today, to have our guys come up here, accept this challenge and come in swinging”, Frost said.
“To be honest, I actually had a missed assignment on that, I wasn’t supposed to be right there, but it all worked for the better”, Willis said. That’s as big of an error as an official can make.
O’Dey told a pool reporter a condensed version of what we explained in a previous post about the game’s thrilling, bewildering finale.
The game can’t end on a defensive penalty.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Freshman Jalen Hurts passed for 287 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start to lead Alabama past Western Kentucky.
In the final stretch, with many thinking the game was over, Central Michigan converted a Hail Mary to win 30-27 with zero seconds on the clock.
(2) CLEMSON 30, TROY 24: Deshaun Watson threw for three touchdowns and the Tigers (2-0) held off the pesky Trojans (1-1) in Clemson, South Carolina.
“So (Kroll) alertly found Corey Willis, who was in the trail position there, and Corey did the rest”.
“It’s an improbable finish”, CMU coach John Bonamego said, “but it’s a situation we’ve practiced and rehearsed”.
The Cowboys practice and rehearse it, too. “College football is about Sunday through Thursday preparation, and (walk-through) on Friday”.
After a win over Tennessee in the Orange Bowl, Frost publicly pleaded with coaches to vote his team as national champion, and they obliged by voting Nebraska No. 1 over MI in the coaches poll by a two-vote and four-point margin after MI easily was voted No. 1 in the Associated Press poll following a Rose Bowl win over Washington State.
“The game is final and errors can only be corrected during the game”. Since intentional grounding is a foul that includes loss of down, that meant Oklahoma State turned the ball over on downs at the CMU 49-yard line.

OSU capitalized on 4th and 1 from the Chippewas’ 2-yard line, with Dillon Stoner taking the direct shotgun snap, and touch passing to James Washington on the end around, who scored to give OSU the 27-24 lead with 5:12 to play in the fourth quarter. The pass was caught by Jesse Kroll.
