Stuntman surfs on motorbike

However, you wouldn’t imagine a bike ride on the water, would you?

Maddison, a stunt driver from New South Wales, says it took him two years to modify the bike and ideal the stunt. ESPN describes the skis as two skateboards with the holes cut in the center, allowing the wheels to rotate on the ground, that fit underneath the entire bike.

Robbie Maddison has been around the world of extreme sports for several years.

Teahupo’o (pronounced CHO-PO) is recognised by big-wave surfers as one of the most unsafe and challenging locations to surf due to the huge volume of water sucked up and razor sharp coral reef that lies just feet below the surface.

Maddison told Surfer magazine he was surprised by how “physically demanding” the stunt turned out to be.

Despite the near-death experience, Maddison revealed that he is happy to have finally fulfilled his dream of bringing both his passion for surfing and motor bike riding together.

“It’s the gnarliest thing I have ever been through”.

“I was only comfortable in this scenario because I’ve spent the majority of my life dropping in on waves”.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Maddison reveals what drove him to tempt fate, and how his dream came to fruition without cheering crowds, but with the reward of making history.

The 34-year-old, who wore a full suit and helmet, does stick out among the other water recreationists who dressed in bikinis and swim trunks, gave him some amusing looks when he whizzed right by them. “Every time there was a mechanical change in the bike, it changed the way it rode”.

Maddison is fondly called “Australian Evel Knievel” by his fans – and you can check out his insane stunt in the video below.

“I’ve never felt like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time more than I did right there”.

“It took me down, I was struggling”, he told The TODAY Show.
