Suarez and Neymar lead 4-0 rout of Real

That allowed the pro-Barca dailies: Diario Sport and “El Mundo Deportivo” to celebrate their side: “Barcelona destroy Real Madrid” headlines, while El Mundo Deportivo said the game was “A Symphony from Barcelona and a chorus of boos for Real Madrid”.

During the match, Real Madrid fans called for the resignation of the team’s manager Rafael Benitez.

The tie would be wrapped up shortly after the start of the second period, with Andres Iniesta rocketing home an absolute screamer from the edge of the area – following a layoff from Neymar – to put this game to bed.

Barcelona got on the scoresheet in the 11th minute thanks to Luis Suarez slotting a shot just past Madrid keeper Keylor Navas.

A giant French flag was unfurled in the stands and La Marseillaise played during a minute’s silence before kickoff to honor the victims of the Paris terror attacks and security was tight for the clash in the Spanish capital.

Barcelona won over Real Madrid 4-0 on Saturday in the latest El Clasico matchup from Santiago Bernabéu, pushing the club lead on the La Liga table to six points.

A reporter’s suggestion that Rafa Benitez’s galactico-heavy Madrid had made it easy for Barca by surrendering was not accepted by Luis Enrique. Even when Galacticos created chances they were stopped by Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo, who helped his team to prevent Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema from scoring goals. The club went up early with goals from Suarez and Neymar before Iniesta had a goal after the first half.

Once underway, Real actually started quite brightly, dominating possession in the opening seven or eight minutes without creating a clear cut chance.

Lionel Messi was fit enough only to make an appearance from the bench, but it didn’t matter for Barcelona. With a superb pass from Sergi Roberto to the Uruguan striker, Suarez thrashed the ball with a careful swerve into the net. Replays showed that Neymar appeared to be slightly offside when he received Iniesta’s pass. Suarez added a fourth as he raced through before cheekily lobbing Navas from close range. He immediately got into the thick of things as he was substituted on in the second half.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique had the return of Rakitic, who had been nursing a muscle problem, but he lost defender Javier Mascherano less than 30 minutes into the match because of another injury.
