Suarez, Finnegan lead Reds to 6-0 win over Padres

The San Diego starter was pulled after 4 2/3 innings in his second start with the Padres, a 3-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Eugenio Suarez was the hitting star for Cincinnati, driving in four runs to tie his career high, while Brandon Phillips collected three hits and an RBI. Dickerson is not expected to land on the disabled list, according to manager Andy Green.

“I don’t see myself missing any time”, Clemens said. The Reds are 3-1 on their six-game road trip and have won nine of their 13 contests since the All-Star break.TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN San DiegoPITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Anthony DeSclafani (6-0, 3.09 ERA) vs. Padres LH Christian Friedrich (4-6, 5.00)DeSclafani remained flawless on the season by winning his fourth consecutive start Monday despite yielding five runs and six hits in five innings at San Francisco. Christian will look to turn it around after being shellacked against Washington to the tune of five runs on six hits with a walk and no strikeouts over only three innings. But Amarista followed with a single to center and Myers followed by drawing the first of three straight walks issued by Bailey. Bailey was then lifted after 89 pitches.

The Reds took a 2-1 edge in the second, thanks to some power from an unlikely source. In the 6th, Bailey walked three before being pulled with 2 outs in the inning after Wil Myers alertly stole home as Bailey awaited the hook.

“It’s frustrating (to be out now), but I’m confident that as soon as it feels good I’ll get that right back”, said Dickerson, who was 9-for-18 with seven RBIs over his last four games. “And I knew that if he walked (Blash) that he might turn his back again”. After Peraza popped out, Barnhart hit the come-backer that caromed off Dominguez’s foot toward third for an infield single that scored Duvall.

Blake Wood relieved Bailey and retired Bethancourt looking to end the threat. While hoping to avoid surgery, his rehabilitation will linger into the offseason.

Bailey’s ERA in eight career starts against the Padres is 3.61. Straily has produced quality starts in each of his last five appearances.

Padres: RHP Jarred Cosart (0-1, 5.95) will make his debut with the Padres against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers.

It is also worth noting that with the Padres recently shipping starters Andrew Cashner and Colin Rea to Miami, the club can ill afford to lose another arm for an extended period of time.
