Suarez Record Chase By Hat-Trick Hero Aguero

Manuel Pellegrini has questioned Sergio Aguero’s omission from the PFA Player of the Year shortlist after his hat-trick for Manchester City at Chelsea.

Manuel Pellegrini states that the announcement of Pep Guardiola as Manchester City’s new head coach effectively cost them the EPL title.

“The way that he is playing, especially the last game, I am sure that it will be hard for the other strikers to keep up with his performances”.

Chelsea’s interim boss Guus Hiddink found it hard to hide his admiration for De Bruyne too.

“We were playing a very strong team”.

City’s title challenge faltered in the wake of the club’s decision to announce Guardiola’s appointment on February 1 and, while they have qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League, they find themselves 13 points behind Premier League leaders Leicester with five games remaining.

City have won three in succession in the Premier League to tighten their grip on a top-four spot while also reaching the last four in Europe. They’ll be looking to protect their unbeaten home record, which has stretched to eight games. We managed to do that a few times in the first half and we got some half-chances. “I’ve been involved in this from the start and I am proud we are finally getting where we want to be”. It depends how he improves in the next year but he is a player that kicks the ball very well and he gets goals, and for me, a player that gets goals is the most important thing.

“I will let people who analyse the game decide if we would have been higher or lower with him but he’s just a great player to have”.

“There are a lot of reasons why we couldn’t be a consistent and solid team all year”, Pellegrini told a news conference.

Last season’s Premier League champions have little left to play for in the final weeks of the 2015-16 campaign as they are already out of the race for a top-four finish, but Cahill is adamant they can not afford to put in performances like this weekend’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of City.

Pellegrini will be praying that the often-injured duo can stay fit, with the focus on their European semi-final against Real Madrid.
