Subaru Impreza: Please Don’t Break Our Heart Again
Subaru’s Impreza Sedan Concept, debuting at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, fits squarely in the category of those you can expect to buy straight off the rack. But the lines of the vehicle, which presage a change in Subaru’s design direction, are more sculptural and aggressive than the current Impreza-and certainly far sportier than the performance-oriented WRX, which Subaru says will continue on a somewhat different product cycle and design tack.

Along with the five-door model, this sedan is an indication of the design trajectory Subaru is going to adopt for future generation models.

The sedan concept features Subaru’s Dynamic & Solid design elements and “a quality feel beyond its class”, the company said in a release. Measuring 4555mm in length, the new auto is 30mm shorter than the current model but is 140mm wider, sits 12mm lower and rides on a 2670mm wheelbase that is 25mm longer. While much of the car’s styling is likely to be toned down for production, the basic shape suggests Subaru is finally ready to join its peers in the 21 century with a coupe-like roofline, carefully-considered surfacing and shapely headlights and tail lights. Then there’s the character line that extends from the front fender to the door panels and rear shoulder. The height is unchanged at 57 inches.
