Check back later today for all the details as Subaru will introduce the 2017 Impreza sedan and hatchback at 12:20 PM ET.
The new Impreza is much more rigid than the current one because it’s built on a new modular architecture called simply Subaru Global Platform (SGP). Additionally, it wears Subaru’s new design language, which meant to give the auto a more athletic look.
Subaru said the Impreza has a lower center of gravity and revised suspension systems that contribute to a big leap in performance.
What do you think of the new Subaru Impreza?
Under the hood a direct-injected version of Subaru’s 2.0-liter boxer-four-cylinder engine is now reporting for duty, with an early projection of 152 horsepower. The model depicted here is the 2.0i Sport and of course the 2017 Impreza wears a toned down exterior appearance compared to the concept auto introduced past year. A continuously variable transmission is the only option at the moment. All-wheel drive comes standard.

The new platform also brings fresh safety technology for Subaru, including “EyeSight”, which uses stereo cameras to monitor the road and traffic for potential hazards. The Limited trim adds a host of features not seen on the other trims, including LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, standard 17-inch alloy wheels, Steering Responsive Headlights, 6-way powered driver’s seat, automatic climate control, leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter, Keyless access, and a new 8-inch color display.
