Sublime Iheanacho assist stokes Manchester City’s win

Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho made an instant impact on Saturday, providing an assist four minutes after coming on in his second substitute appearance this season for Manchester City who claimed a back to back Premier League win on Saturday defeating Stoke City 4-1 at the Bet365 Stadium.

Manchester City’s Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero scores the opening goal from the penalty spot past Stoke City’s Irish goalkeeper Shay Given (L) during their English Premier League match in Stoke-on-Trent, central England, Saturday.

Aguero, who missed two penalties in City’s 5-0 Champions League playoff first-leg victory at Steaua Bucharest in midweek, opened the scoring from the spot after Ryan Shawcross impeded Nicolas Otamendi.

“It’s impossible to say what we can achieve”, he said.

But in the end, Hughes could have no complaints as City picked his side off at the death to start as they hope they will mean to go on – their previous record of just four wins in 16 away league games do nothing for their chances of regaining the Premier League title in Manuel Pellegrini’s final season in charge.

Stoke spoiled their good early work though by gifting City the lead with 27 minutes played. “I know when he is going to increase a little bit his intensity without the ball, he will be part of the group, if he wants to stay”.

Stoke pulled a goal back two minutes into the second half, when Bojan scored from the penalty spot. Raheem Sterling was the guilty figure conceding the penalty by grabbing Shawcross on a free-kick. “It was a nice week for us”.

Chile global Bravo (33), was twice beaten by Real Betis in the Catalan club’s 6-2 LaLiga victory at the Nou Camp on Saturday evening, and, speaking afterwards, technical secretary Robert Fernandez – quoted on Barcelona’s official Twitter account – said: “We have the beginning of an agreement with Manchester City for Claudio Bravo”.

Pep Guardiola wants Sergio Aguero defending tirelessly from the front and warned Manchester City’s star striker not to “disappear” when without the ball.

“We have to be really careful”, added Premier League newcomer Guardiola. “We arrived many times in the box with one against one”. The 29-year-old Spaniard provides great depth as another attacking winger, and some good skill with the ball at his feet.

Awarded the lunch time kick off for the second week on the spin when Stoke hosted Manchester City this weekend, yet again Mike Dean was the name on everyone’s lips. But he has to help us, ‘ the City manager said. “I’m not a guy who likes to complain”. Aguero duly dispatched the penalty but the home side felt the award was harsh.

The football season is back and, more importantly, so is Mike Dean..

To cap a frustrating day, Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri also saw French midfielder Nampalys Mendy forced off with a second-half injury. The 29-year-old global made 47 appearances in all competitions for City last season and kept 18 clean sheets.
