Kasuri’s book, “Neither a Hawk nor a Dove: An Insider’s Account of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy” will be launched at Nehru Centre at 5.30 pm.

Kulkarni was organising the release function of the book.

“I would like to thank Chief Minister Mr Devendra Fadnavis for providing excellent protection (provided to him) ever since I landed in Mumbai airport (last evening)”, he said at the book launch.

Just a few hours before the programme, a few unknown persons suspected to be Shiv Sainiks attacked Kulkarni with black ink.

“…it is a positive sign that the party faces criticism instead of the usual free rein that it gets to do whatever it well pleases”, the daily added. “We are not doing anything unlawful”, he told NDTV.

The hardline Sena group says it will not allow Kasuri’s book launch as any engagement with Pakistan is unacceptable.

On Monday, Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut, said “It is hard to predict where people’s anger against Pakistan would erupt”. Kulkarni sportingly attended the event with black ink all over his face. The Sena has said that if its cadres have done it then they are “proud” of the “nationalistic act”. “Mumbai police should have taken cognisance of the threat and should have registered cases against all those who has issued the threat”, she said.

“If the BJP cannot even protect its own people there is little hope that they can safeguard the lives of the citizens”.

“The Sena president told me that unlike Ghulam Ali, Kasuri was not an artist but was part of the machinery which perpetrated terror”, he said.
