In January a year ago, the Delhi Police had registered a case of murder in connection with the death of Sunanda. The police also asked about the injuries on her body.

During the interrogation, the Congress leader dismissed any foul play in his wife’s death, reports say.

However, the report failed to clear the mystery surrounding Sunanda’s death and it was forwarded to an AIIMS medical board for their opinion.

Sunanda, who married Tharoor in 2010, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a hotel room in Delhi on January 17, 2014.

Bassi said clarification would be sought wherever required, adding that Tharoor’s statements would be analysed, and thereby proceedings will be made. It was unnatural as per our investigation till now and evidences collected so far.

Strips of alprax were found near Pushkar’s body by investigators.

The report reads: “The circumstantial restoration of empty Alprax Tablets (27 tablets) and report of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which exhibits the presence of Alprax in abdomen and its contents, spleen, liver part, kidneys, blood pattern, in addition to moist clothes resulting from urination, mattress cowl and mattress sheet, confirmed the death is because of extreme ingestion of Alprazolam pill”.
