The sensational case of the death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, reached a new stage with the Federal Bureau of Investigation endorsing the AIIMS report of poisoning as the cause and also saying that a “dangerous chemical” was present in her body that may have killed her. Sudhir Gupta, head of AIIMS Forensic Science department, said the Federal Bureau of Investigation report also said the death was due to poisoning as was concluded by the AIIMS. “Merits shall be ensured”.

Sunanda was found dead inside her suite at a five-star hotel in New Delhiin January 2014, a day after she was involved in a spat with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar on Twitter over the latter’s alleged affair with Tharoor, the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram. “I have no knowledge on the mention of any unsafe chemical in the Federal Bureau of Investigation report”.

“As far as evidences are concerned until now, Sunanda Pushkar’s death was unnatural”.

“We gave the whole report to the medical board and they assessed it very seriously”.

In the morning, the final AIIMS report in the case was submitted to the Delhi Police.

Tharoor was also questioned many times by the investigators but the sleuths are still clueless on how she died.
