Sunderland: Advocaat wants three new faces
Sunderland have had a relatively quiet summer, signing only Sebastian Coates, Jeremain Lens and Younes Kaboul with a week of the transfer window remaining.

Sunderland were enjoying a good spell now and they had a big penalty shout as Rodwell’s shot from the edge of the box struck Williams on the arm but the referee waved play on. I don’t want to discuss that now.
With the draw Sunderland has one point from their opening three games, while Swansea is still unbeaten with five points from three matches. Both fullbacks will have to give less space to opposing wingers, and defending set-pieces remains a problem for Advocaat’s players.
Advocaat remains desperate to boost Sunderland‘s options up front and in midfield, with the club due to learn if ex-Swansea man Jonathan de Guzman is willing to return to the Premier League on loan from Napoli.
Nevertheless, if Short and sporting director Lee Congerton are unable to make further improvements in the next ten days, Advocaat expects there to be serious consequences. I think this Norwich side has plenty of pace on the flanks and if Nathan Redmond can get some momentum I think he can be the key for the Canaries having a successful season. As delighted as Advocaat was with his team’s first point of the season and rediscovery of a recently mislaid fighting spirit, he had most definitely not been fooled into a false sense of security. We can begin building something.
“But maybe the team has more substance and is a bit tougher nowadays”.
Meanwhile, Advocaat has reiterated that if players are not happy at the club, then they should leave.
However, Short admits that the cash which has been lavished has not had the desired results and he is willing to take responsibility.
He continued: “We were a little disappointed with the goal we conceded before half-time because we didn’t really deserve that and we played well, but all the lads were positive and there were a lot of things we could take from the first half“.
“We are aggressive without the ball and we will try to be aggressive with it as well”. I have always been brought up in the way that you have to respect the decision of the manager. Manchester City get a central defender (Nicolas Otamendi) this week for £32m.
In a match where Swansea players completed 407 passes, Sigurdsson did not look like the one pulling all the strings. There was no pressure on the ball throughout as the Canaries controlled for nearly the full 90 minutes, with only young substitute Duncan Watmore emerging with any credit. But I can live with 1-1, to be fair to Swansea as well.

“Jermain Defoe will play on the left or right side – or on the bench”, he said.
