Sunderland’s victory relegates Norwich City despite win

Both evidently have some convincing to do if a promising relationship is not to peter out.

Norwich City have been relegated from the Premier League despite recording a comfortable win over Watford at Carrow Road. It is most likely that he will either be moved on or he will move on himself.

Pandemonium – until the news came through minutes later that Sunderland had scored twice.

And that’s a City board now without David McNally after his shock resignation.

If only Norwich had played anything like this all season.

“I’m saying there’s discussions to be had with the club”, he said.

Carrow Road was rocking and had another goal to cheer in the 37th minute, although Watford won’t want to watch any replays of this one either.

“Unfortunately, we’re not in the position I’d like us to be, but we need to crack on and see where it takes us”. “The immediate priority, as stated earlier in the week, is to recruit a permanent chief executive to lead the club”.

For Quique Sanchez Flores, however, the stakes are different: the Hornets manager is believed to be fighting for his job, despite guiding Watford to safety and the FA Cup semi-finals in what to many onlookers seems an impressive first season at the club. Gallingly, Norwich missed out on several strikers, such as Dwight Gayle.

So for Norwich, if they beat Watford they can climb as high as 18th with a game left to play and still a chance to crawl up to 17th and assure another season at the top flight.

Their bluntness was costly again this season.

Naismith has certainly had his critics since signing in January. Neither made the desired difference.

15′ GOAL! Norwich 1 Watford 1 Hang on a minute. Mbokani was their top scorer with seven and the next had four which says a lot. Expecting him to learn from mistakes and build on abundant good work, on the other hand, seems wise. But it could be argued that he tinkered a little too often in the Premier League. Have you come to terms with relegation?

The Norwich players were made aware of their predicament, too, when Watford’s fans sang of the score at the Stadium of Light.

That message would have been relayed to the players if they hadn’t realised already and Watford took advantage of a puncturing of the atmosphere to pull one back within six minutes of the second period.

“Over the course of the season we didn’t perform as well as we’d have liked”.

“It was more about a lack of knowhow and maybe belief because the Premier League is ruthless and we have been found out”.
