Senegalese striker Dame N’Doye is at Sunderland for a medical prior to a four-month loan from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
Sam Allardyce is determined to strengthen his Sunderland defence in January.
The striker played under Steve Bruce at Hull City last season and Allardyce spoke to close friend Bruce before making a move.
And Allardyce is hopeful that N’Doye will prove a reliable provider of goals as Sunderland battle to stay in the top flight.
Reports in Turkey emerged late last week that N’Doye could be on his way to Sunderland and the 30-year-old is understood to be a genuine target in the Black Cats’ sights.
N’Doye joined the Tigers in February 2015 from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow for a fee of around £2.7m moving on to Turkey and Trabzonspor in August the same year for £2.2m after scoring five goals in 15 appearances. He offers us more goals. If you think he has got that quality to make a difference.
“We have seen those goals, we have watched them“.
Allardyce hopes to get the German up to speed in the next few days and confirmed that he would definitely be involved against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend even if he doesn’t make the midweek match.
“He knows and has experienced the Premier league”.

“The record he showed a year ago was one of the key elements of why we did it, from what Steve told me”.
