Sununu expresses disappointment in NASCAR race loss
– Kevin Harvick, who has led more laps than any other driver (1,497) at 1.5-mile tracks since 2015, also owns the second-best driver rating at Las Vegas (99.6). Vegas’ second race will come from New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which now hosts the second race of NASCAR’s 10-race playoff system.

– Only three of the 19 Las Vegas races have been won from the front row: Kyle Busch, 2009 (pole); Carl Edwards, 2008 (second place); Brad Keselowski, 2014 (second place).
Vegas, the site of Sunday’s Cup Series race, is now grouped with Phoenix and Fontana as part of a West Coast swing of sorts. We’ve witnessed drivers perform under the new stage format in all three of NASCAR’s national series and have had time to see Monster Energy’s incorporation as the new entitlement sponsor in the premier series.
But they are not the only locals who will be racing this weekend.
Governor Chris Sununu says he’s disappointed by the news, but remains optimistic.
New Hampshire will retain its July Cup weekend.
Well, well, well…we have arrived at Las Vegas for the Kobalt 400 this Sunday afternoon after what have been exciting and tumultuous races at Daytona and Atlanta. Those races continue to be popular ones on the Modified schedule, as the northeastern United States is modified country.
“It is something we never take for granted because it’s not in our control. We had a pretty good day at the racetrack today”, Truex said.
The newsbecame official on the Wednesday before NASCAR comes to town for their spring race, that Las Vegas would receive a second race date in 2018.
SMI recently spent a significant amount on capital improvements at its tracks in Bristol, Tenn., Kentucky, and Texas, and is considering repaving Atlanta. Everything is bigger in Texas and that goes for that track’s two races as it can boast of attracting some of the largest crowds on the schedule plus its fall race is also in the Chase.
So this meant the date had to come from either the remaining SMI-owned tracks – NHMS or Charlotte, N.C.
“We as a business are not just going to rest on a July race weekend”, he said.
“The experience is unique to any other in our sport”.
We got a glimpse of the current low downforce aero package on the cars in races at Kentucky and MI a year ago as well as last weekend at Atlanta and Chase Elliott has been a factor in just about every one of them.
New Hampshire lost big in Vegas. That race is now in July.
“I watched Vegas being built from the ground up, and I remember when it wasn’t anything but a gleam in the eye of Richie Clyne [and] all those guys who made that place happen”, Kyle Busch said. “We’re going to really focus and make that a super event in the future”.

Last September, the track opened the North East Motor Sports Museum on the Loudon property.
