The Denver Broncos lead the Carolina Panthers, 16-10, in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California, behind a stiff defense that has kept Cam Newton quiet. Can Cam Newton and the Panthers continue their dominance against the Broncos’ stout defense?

The Panthers pulled within a field goal when Jonathan Stewart ran one yard for a touchdown in the second quarter.

But Denver answered right back when Jordan Norwood cut across the field on a Super Bowl record 61-yard punt return to set up a Brandon McManus 33-yard field goal that put Denver ahead 13-7. Manning then hit Sanders for a 22-yard gain to the Panthers 17. Four plays later, from the Denver 28, Newton overthrew Ginn and was picked off by Broncos safety T.J. Ward. And they went into the fourth quarter trailing by nine points, with that deficit feeling like a whole lot more.

Denver’s offence failed to fire, but Manning and his men held off a late fightback from the Panthers to seal the Broncos’ third Super Bowl win in the team’s history.

Manning led a field-goal drive to open the game, but Denver did not get a first down on its next four drives.

Newton settled down in the second quarter, completing a 20-yard pass to Philly Brown and scrambling twice for 23 yards to drive Carolina down the field.
