Super Bowl Commercials: Steve Harvey mocks Miss Universe controversy for T

Harvey has been apologetic since the gaffe, which saw Miss Colombia crowned and then unceremoniously uncrowned for the rightful victor, Miss Philippines.

He makes fun of his mistake in a hilarious T-Mobile commercial that debuted during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday.

T-Mobile last week unveiled one of its Super Bowl ads, leaving the rest of its Super Bowl plans a mystery until tonight’s kickoff in the hopes of generating some anticipation.

“Whoh, whoh, whoh, listen folks”, Harvey says.

In the 30-second ad costing the communications carrier an estimated $5 million just to air it in that slot on CBS, T-Mobile takes issue with a ubiquitous Verizon ad which claims that Verizon has better coverage than T-Mobile by a wide margin. T-Mobile doubled their LTE coverage in the previous year. If somehow you missed it, Harvey announced the wrong victor of the Miss Universe contest before announcing the right name.

What doesn’t – We’re really not sure at this point how many viewers care about the finer details when it comes to Verizon vs. T-Mobile service … or at least we don’t.

T-Mobile used the hashtag #ballogize at the end of the spot. Uh-uh. Verizon got it wrong. Yes!
