Super Bowl: Pederson revels in success of ‘Philly Special’ trick play

“We’ve all waited a long time to be in this position of world champions”, Foles said.

“I’m just going to sit down and reflect on the season”. I just believe in us.

But we also know lots of talking needs to be done first.

In a record-setting shootout between backup QB Foles and five-time champ Brady of the favored Patriots, Foles led a pressure-packed 75-yard drive to the winning touchdown, 11 yards to Ertz with 2:21 to go.

But on the ensuing drive New England safety Devin McCourty couldn’t keep Zach Ertz from stretching the ball across the goal line for an 11-yard touchdown reception from Nick Foles that wound up being the game victor. For the first time since 1960, the Eagles are National Football League champions. The drive covered 14 plays, including a fourth-down conversion.

“I wish everybody would have a chance to be on a team”, Long said a year ago. Philadelphia’s Nick Foles went back-and-forth with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the defense came through with a turnover when they needed a stop to help their side.

Taking to Twitter late Sunday night, Donald Trump posted a short message of congratulations to the Eagles. What a game. I bet actual eagles in Philadelphia are flying high tonight, man. “I’m just glad I toughed it out”.

For Dolphins fans, Jay Ajayi gets a Super Bowl ring that he can thank Adam Gase for. I’m celebrating the Eagles first Super Bowl victory.

Tom Brady became the first quarterback to pass for 500 yards in a Super Bowl, as his 505 yards broke his record of 466 from past year.

Brady threw for a Super Bowl-record 505 yards and three TDs, hitting Rob Gronkowski for four yards.

Brady led New England back to take a 33-32 lead midway through the fourth quarter behind a pair of touchdown passes.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson called an MVP-type game for Foles, just the third quarterback to win a Super Bowl with three or fewer starts.

Not to be outdone, though, the Eagles used a 7-minute drive to take back the lead. On a day when the offenses dominated on both teams, it was a defensive play that determined the outcome of Super Bowl LII.

After a timeout, the Eagles got the ball to Trey Burton on a reverse, who flipped a pass to a wide-open Foles for a touchdown. If the Foles touchdown was creative, this Clement grab was controversial.

A field goal made it 41-33, the Patriots getting the ball back with 58 seconds left at their 9 following another incredibly curious call on the kickoff, when Dion Lewis lateraled the ball to Rex Burkhead, losing yardage and valuable seconds.

(On the culture of this Eagles team) “I’ll tell you, it’s all about faith, it’s all about our family, and then it’s all about the Philadelphia Eagles, and it’s in that order”.

The running game moved the ball easily, and the fact that the Patriots managed only four tackles for loss indicates that the Eagles moved the ball with pretty much everything they did.

The Eagles converted Brady’s turnover into a 46-yard field goal by Jake Elliott.

Yeah, this was one of those moments that Brady and the Patriots thrive in. After driving to the Patriots one-yard line with 38 seconds remaining before halftime, Pederson elected to keep his offence on the field on fourth down.

Had the Patriots won this game, it’s possible Brady and Belichick might have gone out for a beer or two and settled all family business. James White pitched to Danny Amendola, who lofted a pass to Brady, and it slipped off his outstretched fingers.
