According to Sporting Life, Oliseh was not properly treated in Port Harcourt where the Super Eagles was based which led to the deterioration in his health.
The media had reported last week that Coach Oliseh was sick and would not be available for last week’s match between Nigeria and Burkina Faso.
It was at the same venue, back in April 1997, that the Super Eagles greatly enhanced their chances of qualification for the 1998 Federation Internationale de Football Association World Cup, when defeating the Etalons 2-1 in a dramatic encounter.
Yaro Bature and Gbolahan Salami were the goal scorers for Nigeria in the first leg.
In his absence, Salisu Yusuf will take charge of the team in Ouagadougou on Sunday.
He was initially not expected for the match against the Burkinabes in Port Harcourt but he arrived in the camp barely 24 hours to the match.
Enyimba goalkeeper Femi Thomas, who was cover for Sunshine Stats goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa in the first leg, said Nigeria are ready for battle in Ouagadougou.
“We are ready for Burkina Faso, we have been training hard for the game and we are just going to play our normal game to win”, he said. “I have been so touched and much moved, nearly to tears by the prayers and good wishes I have been receiving from Nigerians”.
