It’s a breakthrough for Apple and a major change in strategy for Nintendo, which has largely kept its top characters away from smartphones.

Shigeru Miyamoto, the chief game designer at Nintendo, made the announcement at Apple’sits press event in San Francisco. While it’s still all about collecting those coins, performance will also factor heavily into this mode in Super Mario Run.
Nintendo said it would launch the game initially on Apple’s App Store in December.
In the game, you play as Mario, who runs automatically to the right, navigating Mario-ish obstacle courses.
The game will be released at a set price.
Developing story, more to come.
“We have created Super Mario Run to be ideal for playing on your iPhone”, Miyamoto said during the event.
He said because it can be played with one hand, gamers will still be able to “hold onto the handle on the subway, while eating a hamburger or eating an apple”.
It’s safe to say that everyone is extremely excited about Mario coming to iPhone.
In the short gameplay demo of Super Mario Run, Mario will jump by tapping the screen, with a longer jump the longer you hold the tap.
Super Mario Run can be played one-handed, a first for the series, and emphasizing a truly portable Mario experience.
A new battle mode called “Toad Rally” allows users to choose opponents in an attempt to beat their high scores, and set scores to compete with players around the world.

Mario stickers will also make their way to iMessage in iOS 10.
