More than 15,000 people in Taiwan have been moved from their homes, which were prone to landslides or flooding, and about 3,600 of them were in shelters.

Power has been partially restored on Taiwan after a powerful typhoon slammed into the island’s eastern coast, killing two people and injuring 72.
The storm came ashore about 10 miles south of Taitung City, located on the southeast coast of Taiwan, with the strongest winds the area has seen in 61 years.
“Many hut roofs and signs have been blown off”.
The majority of the injuries were reported in Taitung County, – a total of 132 – most due to falling glass or falling on the streets, said officials at the Taitung branch of Mackay Memorial Hospital. The typhoon halted work in most of Taiwan.
More than 420,000 people across four cities, including the provincial capital Fuzhou, have been evacuated and more than 33,000 boats returned to harbour, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
Workers reinforce the electric pylons at a flooded area as Typhoon Nepartak approaches in Xuancheng, Anhui Province, China, July 9, 2016.
The storm was expected to worsen already severe flooding in parts of central and eastern China, particularly in the major city of Wuhan. The typhoon is the first one to hit this year. It ravaged Taitung in southeastern Taiwan, before moving toward Fujian in southeastern China.
On Thursday noon, a man was reported drowned near the Chihsingtan Beach, a top tourist attraction in Hualien County and was pronounced dead after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
“Although Nepartak has left Taiwan, it has brought torrential rain that would continue to affect Taiwan”, a spokesman of the Central Weather Bureau said.

Preparations were being made on the mainland, where Nepartak is forecast to make landfall in Fujian province on Saturday.
